Reverse Aging While You Sleep~ Top Tips & Products

Updated: Jul 12, 2020

Youth-enhancing skincare products will help restore and replenish the skin by offering active ingredients that help hydrate, repair, and moisturize all night long while you rest! Certain key ingredients (such as vitamin C, retinol, hyaluronic acid, vitamin A) can assist in reducing fine lines, wrinkles, age spots, and uneven skin tones/hyperpigmentation. Paired with a healthy, balanced lifestyle including optimal sleep, hydration, clean eating, minimizing chronic stress, and a daytime skincare routine, you can awake each day feeling like you are investing in your longevity and beauty!

Below are 7 tips and products (beauty/skincare products & supplements) that I have seen make a difference in my skin, as well as many of my clients. Try one or more and see how these actions help reverse aging while you sleep!

  1. Vitamin A- Think of vitamin A as a gentle form of retinol. If you are someone with sensitive skin, this special ingredient may be for you. Strong retinols are not kind to my skin, often causing redness and irritation, along with drying the skin barrier. Retoniols certainly have their place for turning back the clock, but vitamin A is gentle enough that it can be used daily and effectively. This is a facial oil that I have seen fight fine lines as well as add vibrancy to my skin: Derma E Anti-Wrinkle Treatment Oil Rosehip & Grape Seed Oils Vitamins A & E 2 fl oz https://bit.ly/3fbhlRP

  2. Melatonin- If you struggle with falling asleep, you may be lacking in melatonin. First, shut off all stimulants (lights including blu-light, electronic devices including television). These will disrupt sleep cycles, interrupting melatonin release. If you still cannot get into a deep rest, consider supplementing with melatonin. I usually take a spray for faster absorption (3mg) and within 60 minutes I am fast asleep. Another benefit of the hormone melatonin is that it has powerful antioxidant capabilities, protecting your cellular health while you sleep! Try: Dr. Mercola Melatonin Sleep Support Natural Raspberry 0.85 fl oz https://bit.ly/3gFBwYI

  3. Hydration- Going 8 hours or more without water is not ideal. Therefore, hydrating throughout the day and before bedtime is helpful to our skin's moisture content. I usually have a glass of wine with my dinner, so I make a habit of having a glass of water before wine & dinner, and a glass of water after wine & dinner, as to not allow the alcohol to add to my sleeping dehydration. If you are not a pure water lover, try this natural beauty tonic- water additive: NeoCell Beauty Infusion Collagen Types 1 & 3 Drink Mix Tangerine Twist 11.64 oz https://bit.ly/2W01cHr

  4. Toners- Using toners are a wonderful addition to a skincare regimen because not only are they astringents, toning the skin, but they also can help take off any extra dirt, reaching deeper into the pores. Toners that provide ingredients such as floral waters, witch hazel, and essential oils can nourish and cleanse the face! Try: Botanical Beauty Spray https://www.etsy.com/listing/555069164/botanical-beauty-spray-2-oz-facial-tone

  5. Face Masks- These can grant the skin an added boost! Finding a facial mask that's right for your skin type is very important. I prefer ones that are packed with antioxidants, to help fight free radical damage, promote skin cell turnover, and seal in powerful nutrients. You can do a mask before bed or there are some overnight masks on the market so you can truly get 'beauty rest'! This hydrating mask combines mango, shea butter, and purifying minerals with clay to help purify, hydrate, and revitalize skin tone. Mango is rich in vitamins A, C and D providing numerous anti-aging benefits. Zion Health Adama Clay Face Mask Hydrating Mango Shea 4 fl oz https://bit.ly/2ZOMIeH

  6. Collagen supplements- If you've read my post on the importance of collagen, I hope you are 'sold' on it by now! It is a protein substance created in the human body for hair, skin, joints, and more. However, when we age, the amount we make decreases, and therefore supplementation is incredibly beneficial to not only our skin, but the rest of our working parts! There are many collagen supplements that I have tried, but one of the most affordable and high quality is NeoCell's powder and supplement line. I use their collagen powders in my coffee and smoothies, NeoCell Super Collagen French Vanilla 6.4 oz https://bit.ly/3f9GDjm

  7. Hyaluronic acid- Finally, if dry skin is your issue, your skin may be starving for this natural acid! You can take a concentrated Hyaluronic acid supplement as well as apply it topically via a serum or cream. For a supplement, I like NeoCell Hyaluronic Acid Daily Hydration 120 mg - 60 Capsules https://bit.ly/3iFOR4Z

From Neocell's site: "Hyaluronic Acid (HA) is an important disaccharide found in every tissue of the body, as an essential lubricant of healthy joints, skin and eyes and promotes cell turnover.HA is one of nature's most water-loving molecules responsible for the control of tissue hydration and water transport between cells." • BONUS: If you are someone who has particularly parched skin, you may want to consider sleeping in a facial oil or serum. These potent tonics can help push nutrients into the skin layers, adding extra hydration as well.
