Mulled Apple Cider or Mulled Wine
We have a family-friendly version, as well as an 'adults-only' mulled beverage!
6 cups fresh, unfiltered apple cider
1 orange with peel, quartered or sliced
3, 3-inch sticks of cinnamon
1 teaspoon of nutmeg or ginger
3 star anise
5 pods of cardamom (optional)
Adult Mulled Cider:
Replace apple cider with...
1 bottle of red wine
1/4 cup of brandy or bourbon
1/3 cup of raw honey
Bring all ingredients to a low boil in a large saucepan.
Cover and simmer gently for 20-30 minutes.
Pour hot cider through a fine, mesh strainer into heat-proof pitcher.
Serve in big mugs and garnish with a cinnamon stick!
