Updated: Sep 15, 2022

It's unfortunate that there is another presentation of COVID and that is long-term COVID, also known as long haul COVID. John Campell states, "One in 20 people likely to suffer from ‘Long COVID’. " He shares the predictors of, "Who is most likely to get long COVID?"

  • Age (strongest predictor). Older people are much more likely than younger people. Does occur across all ages.

  • High Body Mass Index (10.8%) Slightly higher average BMI M/F (3.7%)

  • Men are more likely to be admitted to hospital. Women slightly more likely to suffer from long COVID. Men 9.5% Women 14.5%

  • Co-morbidities (The presence of one or more disorders (or diseases) in addition to a primary disease or disorder).

What can we do naturally/at- home to help prevent or shorten long haul COVID?

  • Basic lifestyle improvements: Consume a healthy, whole food diet, adequate sleep, hydration, daily exercise, management of stress, regular hand washing/good hygiene, limiting (or preferably omitting) alcohol and tobacco use, and limiting exposure if possible.

  • Have essential oil therapies on hand: Menthol oils help support the respiratory system through inhalation/steam or applied topically to the skin with a base oil, such as olive oil. * Do NOT use menthol essential oils internally. Try using balms or oil blends, such as Zoe Organics Breathe Balm 6 oz -

  • Create a supplement regimen: Some studies show that the following supplements can help support the immune system and possibly help prevent or shorten viral infections:

  1. Vitamin D3: Garden of Life Vitamin Code RAW D3 5000 IU - 60 Vegetarian Caps -

  2. Vitamin C: American Health Ester-C with Citrus Bioflavonoids 500 mg -

  3. NAC: Life Extension N-Acetyl-L-Cysteine -- 600 mg -

  4. Quercetin + Zinc: Natural Factors Immune Support Quercetin with Zinc & Copper 60 Vegetarian Cap-

  5. Echinacea & Goldenseal: NOW Foods Echinacea & Goldenseal Plus -- 2 fl oz -

  6. Melatonin: Source Natural Melatonin NutraSpray™ Natural Orange -

  7. Baby Aspirin (especially during the COVID haul). * Aspirin is a blood thinner so be sure to check with your doctor before consuming.

  • Finally, support your respiratory and lymphatic system with the use of essential oils and massage! Menthol based oils have supportive properties to our well being, encouraging lung and lymph health. Consider peppermint, eucalyptus, spearmint, rosemary, tea tree, basil & cypress essential oils.

  • Introducing BREATHE THERAPY: This is a 1 hour massage with a Breathe Oil blend + foot reflexology focus on sinus & lung points + tapotement (a percussion like technique to awaken the lungs) + ultrasonic diffuser emitting respiratory supportive essential oil aromas in the air during the massage. $70
